This Irish man, Mark Boyle, lives a life with a low standard of living, but a high quality of life. Since he does not earn any money, he will not be able to purchase big, expensive, luxurious stuff to fill his lifestyle and obtain whatever he desires. However, the good side is that he will not lose any money and as he got to change his lifestyle, it benefited not only the society but the environment as well. Even though it might have been hard for him to make his own shelter, bathe in the river, grow food and live without electricity, he mentions that he was extremely happy the whole entire year and it toughened up him not only physically but mentally also. He figures out that "friendship , not money, is real security." Hence, despite his low standard of living, he has a good quality of life by being happy.
